The Freedom River B&B in Elk City, Idaho
If you’re looking for a scenic retreat in the mountains of Idaho, look no further.
You’ll feel right at home in this gorgeous mountain getaway. Whether you stay in the King Bedroom or the ADA-friendly (not fully approved) Antique Bedroom with a Full bed, you’ll have everything you need to relax and unwind at your fingertips.
A few guys and I built this house from scratch starting in 2010, and would be more than happy to tell you the whole story. Every piece of timber was cut here in Elk City. Every piece of trim was hand sanded and stained. And every piece of flooring was joined together by hand.
You’re welcome to use the main and downstairs living areas, as well as the full outdoor kitchen. Stream a video on YouTube or Netflix with Starlink WiFi.
Two caveats—no pets, and adults only.

I live here year-round and built the BnB from scratch over 5 years. I started by knocking down a hill and built it with local wood, nails, screws, and a few bad words too.
The Bnb has an open kitchen/bar/living room, outdoor kitchen, downstairs living room, small workout area, laundry room, and bar downstairs.
During the summers, friends pass thru and we have barbeques on the porch. The neighbors will come over too.

A clean bed and towels for everyone in your party
Outdoor kitchen with cooking appliances (pots, pans, cutlery, grill). If you use something, please wash it.
Satellite TV and Starlink Internet
Plenty of parking for your toys
Help yourself to coffee and a light breakfast!

The cabin has a large ceiling fan in the living room that will circulate warm or cold air thru the house in less than half an hour.
I’ll build a fire when it’s cold and have small heaters in the house. You’re welcome to use it if you get cold.
If you need additional blankets, don’t hesitate to ask
There is no A/C; in the summers, leave the windows open at night and the cabin will naturally cool down.
After breakfast, close them up to keep the cold air inside.

The property borders National Forest and BLM land.
Grab your fishing pole and go for walk up or down the road in either direction. You’ll probably get a few bites.
You’ll probably get to meet the neighbors (turkeys and deer) they’re over ALL the time, and I will talk to them. Sometimes, they even talk back!
You’re just a stone’s throw from hundreds of miles of trails leading to gorgeous views as far as Montana and wilderness areas.

That depends on what you’re looking forward to on your trip. If you need a quiet and peaceful weekend away, anytime of year is fine.
Visit during spring for:Rainy and cool weather (normally up to 60 degrees, but it can snow!)
Steelhead fishing

Nature Photography—The wildflowers and green scenery are beautiful!
Kayaking during spring run-off (the water is high and FAST!)
Trout season opens Memorial Day Weekend

LONG summer days (sunrise is about 5am, sunset is about 9pm)
Hot and dry weather (normally up to the mid 90s). Thunderstorms and power outages do happen during this time

Elk City Days is the second weekend of August.
Visit during the fall for:
Cooler weather; early September is usually perfect. Mid 70s and dry—though it can snow!

The brown cabin is closed during winter.

You can get all of the basic food you need (meat, vegetables, fruit, dairy, cooking supplies, beer) at the General Store. If you drink Coke, you will need to bring some (they no longer carry Coca-cola products).
We recommend you bring (at the very least):
A fishing pole
Sturdy hiking boots
Wool socks
A weatherproof jacket
A hat
Sunglasses
A basic first aid kit
A camp knife
A map and compass or power bank for your phone
The power does go out (along with the Wi-Fi) from time to time, especially after a big storm. You may also want to bring books/reading material.

No kids and no pets at the B&B. The B&B is a mountain retreat/getaway for adults only.
If you’re bringing the kids and, or your family dog, you’re more than welcome to stay at the Brown Cabin and at the Blue Cabin.

Cancel your booking 30 or more days before arrival and get a full 100% refund.
Cancel your reservation 29-14 days prior to arrival and get a 50% refund.
No refunds within 2 weeks of your arrival.

Yes, we offer discounts if you book for a full week. We also offer a military discount too—not available through Airbnb and VRBO.

There is only room for a maximum of 6 people in the Brown Cabin. The reason is largely due to water. We have a spring that provides water to the Brown Cabin, and the spring can’t produce enough water for more than 6 people.
Freedom River Adventures does not allow additional guests to stay on the property in RVs. There is a large open meadow that’s ¼ mile away where you can camp comfortably. (BLM). Along American River, there are also several campgrounds.

Check-in starts at 3:00 pm (1500) on the day of your reservation.
The person making the reservation will need a photo ID.
We also request that you call from Grangeville (about 1.5 hours away), especially if you will be arriving in the evening.

Check-out is at 11:00 am on the last day of your reservation.
When you check out please:
Strip the beds you slept in and put the blanket on the floor.
Take your garbage outside.
Wash your dishes
Do not lock the doors.
Sign the guestbook or write a review!

Hunting and shooting is not allowed on the property. There is a field about ¼ mile away that’s BLM ground.
