The Blue Cabin was one of the first properties built on American River Road. It’s as charming and hardy as the folk in Elk City—a little rough around the edges, but incredibly comfy and heartwarming.
The cabin has a kitchen/dining area, living room, 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom, and a loft area.
The front porch and back porch are covered. Out back, there is a BBQ area.
Approximate size: 1600 sq. feet
-
We provide:
Clean beds and towels for everyone in your party
Basic cooking appliances (pots, pans, cutlery)
Roku TV and Starlink Internet
Plenty of parking for your toys
-
The cabin has electric heaters in the wall that keep the place nice n’ toasty during the chilly fall mornings.
We provide firewood during the cool months (April, October, November).
If you need additional blankets, don’t hesitate to ask .
There is no A/C; in the summers, leave the windows open at night and the cabin will naturally cool down.
After breakfast, close them up to keep the cold air inside.

About the Property
The property borders National Forest and BLM land.
Grab your fishing pole and go for walk up or down the road in either direction. You’ll probably get a few bites.
You’ll probably get to meet the neighbors (turkeys and deer) they’re over ALL the time, when you’re having your morning coffee.
You’re just a stone’s throw from hundreds of miles of trails leading to gorgeous views as far as Montana and wilderness areas.

There is only room for a maximum of 5 people in the Blue Cabin. The reason is largely due to water. We have a spring that provides water to the Blue Cabin, and the spring can’t produce enough water for more than 5 people.
Freedom River Adventures does not allow additional guests to stay on the property in RVs. There is a large open meadow that’s ¼ mile away where you can camp. Along American River, there are also several official and unofficial campgrounds.

Yes and Yes. There are bears, wolves, coyotes, and mountain lions in the area. If you go out into the woods, be prepared for a potential predator encounter—though the chances are low.
